Brain Builder increases a person’s processing capabilities by
increasing DIGIT SPAN. Digit Span measures how many
digits or numerals can be taken in through the eyes or ears and
repeated in correct order. Increasing an individual’s digit span is
important because
it represents the basis for cognitive sequential thought and is the
framework upon which many mental functions are based.

If an individual over the age of seven is recalling fewer than seven
digits visually or auditorily, they are functioning with a handicap.
Those individuals functioning with digit spans of nine or more are
functioning with superior abilities. Low and high digit span abilities
often coincide with low and high abilities in the following areas:

This software program contains seven different exercises that
each emphasize a different aspect of the fundamental skills involved in
sequential processing . |
Intensity Activity: This is a warm-up to be completed at the
beginning of each session to prepare for one of the six remaining
exercises. This activities gets the user focused appropriately to
complete
the core exercises. An eye will flash in the middle of the
screen. When the eye is open, the user presses the space bar as quickly
as possible. The activity is scored.

6 Remaining Exercises: 3 focus on visual exercise and 3
focus on auditory exercise. Each exercise asks you to either
see or hear a series
of numerals and then recall them in order (sequentially). This ability
is what is measured in a digit span test.

progress. The goal is to increase your digit span and thus increase
your sequential processing.

When a computer has more RAM, it can store more information and
work more quickly.

to increase your brain’s RAM by increasing
your ability for sequential processing.
- Processing is our ability
to receive, process, store and retrieve information. Our ability to
sequence visual and auditory information during processing impacts our
learning ability.

person can take in sequentially, the more
efficiently a person can store information in long term memory and
access it for further use.
